Really enjoying these posts, Col, as I navigate my own season of uncertainty (breast cancer treatment). There is something very clarifying about a life threatening illness, and one has been the significance of being present. You've hit the nail on the head with your descriptions of this concept, which I sort of "knew" but didn't really "know" until my challenging circumstances presented themselves! Learning how to stay present in that full sense is, I now believe, the key to life. Please keep writing and sharing!
Thanks for the note Tilda. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having to navigate that. Yes, it is paradoxically life affirming isn’t it. Maria (my partner) had her own breast cancer journey a few years ago and while I appreciate every woman’s experience is unique I have some empathy for what you’re going through.
And ‘yes’ too to that idea that our knowing and can I say our ‘wisdom’ has this extraordinary capacity to find new depths of meaning. And as I’m sure you are finding, it is both frightening and liberating in equal measure to do the inner work required to find peace when there is chaos and uncertainty in our outer worlds.
Are you still down Korumburra way? We stopped in at The Tiny Teapot (a fave) a few weeks ago en route to The Prom.
Thanks Col! Yes, I'm between the city and Korumburra. Do let me know next time you are passing through and I can introduce you to the fantastic new Japanese lunch spot in town, Tsuko!
